About

At Mossy Bottom Mushrooms, we believe fungi deserve a place at the centre of the table.

What started as a fascination with the hidden world beneath our feet has grown into a small-batch mushroom food project rooted in craft, curiosity, and respect for nature. We grow and source extraordinary fungi and transform them into intensely flavourful foods designed to surprise even the most sceptical mushroom eater.

Our products are simple by design. Carefully grown mushrooms, thoughtfully prepared, and gently preserved through freeze-drying to capture their natural depth of flavour and texture. No shortcuts, no fillers — just remarkable fungi treated with care.

A blend of craft and science

Mossy Bottom was founded by a lifelong grower and plant scientist with a deep interest in how fungi shape ecosystems, flavour, and human health. Years spent studying plants and microbes revealed something surprising: mushrooms are still one of the most underappreciated foods on earth.

We created Mossy Bottom to explore what happens when scientific curiosity meets traditional food craft — where careful cultivation, flavour-first thinking, and modern preservation techniques come together.

Not your average mushrooms

We make mushroom foods for people who are curious about flavour, nature, and the stories behind what they eat.

From crispy freeze-dried mushroom snacks to rich mushroom teas and beyond, everything we create is guided by a simple principle: if it doesn’t taste remarkable, it doesn’t belong in the bag.

Looking ahead

Mossy Bottom is still young, but our vision is rooted in something older — a slower, more grounded way of producing food. In the years ahead, we hope to grow this project into a smallholding where mushrooms, plants, and people exist a little closer to the rhythms of nature.

For now, we’re simply sharing the mushrooms we love and inviting others to discover just how extraordinary fungi can be.
